Visiting Colorado: Part I
Considering we spent basically an entire year at the house, we were itching to do something beyond our local parks. We have family in Colorado, and they offered to house us, so we could go explore new places. The beauty in Colorado is unlike California, and not just because of the Mountains and high altitude (although, that certainly counts for a lot).
While I did take a lot of photos of the family, this entry will focus on the landscapes we saw the first day.
One of the first things we visited was Estes Park. It’s a fantastic area, and notable for the both how beautiful it is, and as the location of The Stanley hotel, which was featured in ‘The Shining’. Really cool space and architecture!
We drove around the mountain roads, making pitstops and just enjoyed the snow and vistas. It was a challenge, as the sky was overcast the further we went up, and the snow reflected everything on the ground. Still, you can get a sense of the beauty.
“Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
”
Elk grazing along the road. They seemed to pay us no mind, but we still kept our distance.
The snow was starting to affect visibility and we had to head home, but it was still amazing to see the wildlife go about their business.
